So, This person on the Deviantart forum was calling us idiots for beliving Hippopotomonstrosesquippedaliophobia(fear of long words) Exists.(yeah, it's real) So, I post a wikipedia article on it and it goes down like this.
Me: *puts wikipedia link*
Asshole: wikipedia is user based, anyone can upload whatever they want.
Me: Inaccurate information is either removed, or has a tag that it may be inaccurate.
Asshole: obviously the information is inaccurate, seeing as how the only article in the scotsman containing phobias on the date cited in wikipedia does not contain the word. and while googling their other citation the other periodical does have an online archive as well the word didnt come up there either. no one has showed me any psychological backing as to its existence other than some idiotic user-posted information.
Me: *puts up a dictionary.com link on Hippopotomonstrosesquippedaliophobia*
Asshole: i simply typed in phobia for my searches, neither came up. and meriam-webster disagrees with either spelling given by wikipedia. oh yes, and how come dictionary.com defines the misspelling of the word? more continuity errors.
Asshole: and in the future that, unless you are next to me watching what i type, you shouldnt make assumptions as to how i research. just makes you look like a dick.
Me: *posts link to big article on the phobia and a treatment for it* You can apologize now...
AND I NEVER GOT AN APOLOGY! HE JUST LOGGED OFF AND PRETENDED THE CONVERSATION NEVER HAPPENED! The jerk...
Here are links I posted.
